When making decisions in life, whether big or small, the thing most of us consider first is how our decisions might affect our own life. God makes it clear in the Bible that there’s something else we’re to consider even above how our decisions will affect us, and that’s how our decisions will affect others. In 1 Corinthians 10:23 Paul writes, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.” In other words, we have great liberty in Christ to do what we want BUT…let’s always consider how what we do might influence those watching our lives.

As you’re more aware of how influential your life can be to those you know – and maybe even some people you don’t know – you’ll also become more aware of the importance of every decision you make. Your good and godly decisions will draw people toward Jesus, while any negative and ungodly decisions you make may push people away from Him. Before you make a move ask yourself, “Will what I’m about to do give people a reason to praise God or a reason to deny Him?” You’ll probably be much clearer in what decisions to make when you understand that your choices can give others a good lead to follow. Choose wisely!
