Do you desire greatness?  This question may appear to be prideful and unspiritual.  It’s interesting to consider that in the Bible, God not only indicates He wants us to achieve greatness but He also tells us how to get it.  In Matthew 18:4 Jesus said, “Whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”  Luke 9:48 says it like this: “For he who is least among you all will be great.”

The world attempts to achieve greatness through manipulation, backstabbing, and other negative means.  God says we will achieve greatness in His sight by one means: Humility.  When we humble ourselves God promises that greatness will be ours.  To be humble means to be teachable, open to input, and submissive to those in authority.  It also means that we seek to serve God by serving those around us.  This doesn’t mean you’ll get public recognition or some kind of visible credit for everything you do.  It does mean that God sees your efforts and will reward you, both in this life and the life to come.
