Being a pastor, people often ask me, “Will God use me?” That question comes in many different forms and styles but the heart of the question remains consistent. The assumption is that God isn’t using them right then. To me, that’s where we so often go wrong. You see, God is trying to use you right now! God is willing and able to use you in your season of life at this moment. Let’s use the beginning of King David’s life to illustrate this point; it wasn’t the moment he was anointed to be king over Israel that God started using David. No, it was actually being alone in pastures with a flock of sheep and a harp. It was with those sheep that David learned how to worship and run to God, it was those sheep that brought him the battle with a lion and a bear that would help him overcome the battle with a giant. God was using David long before anyone ever noticed and so often God is trying to use us and prepare us now for what He has for us in the future, but we don’t acknowledge it as being used by God. To answer the question, “Will God or can God ever use me?” I say yes, He will and already is! Whether you are still with sheep being alone in pastures, or currently facing the giant—God wants to use you today.
